ACTION:
Stop banks, financial institutions and other businesses in Hawaii from DISCRIMINATING against HAWAIIAN NATIONALS on the basis of nationality.
WHAT’S THIS ABOUT?:
Banks and other financial businesses in Hawaii are all licensed and regulated by the U.S. Federal Government, purportedly under very strict rules of compliance. Based on those rules, Hawaii’s banks and financial institutions deny services to people who do not meet certain criteria.
By right, Hawaiian Nationals should meet that criteria, but in practice Hawaiian Nationals are denied service, even the mundane ones such as opening a bank account. And forget getting a loan or a home mortgage. Why is that? Because we do not carry the brand of the U.S. taxpayer — the U.S. Social Security Number. The rules say you have to have a SSN or you can’t get financial services from a U.S. bank.
But the rule doesn’t apply to a foreigner in Hawaii who wants to open up an account! A Japanese National doesn’t need to present a SSN. Neither does a Korean, Canadian, French, South African, etc., etc. All they need is documentation (passport, drivers license) of their nationality, and voila! they’re in business.
That doesn’t work for Hawaiian Nationals. Show the bank your Kingdom ID and they still insist on seeing a SSN showing that you are a U.S.-owned tax-slave. In other words, the bank denies you service because it refuses to acknowledge your nationality.
OBJECTIVE:
To stop the banks, other financial institutions and all other business in Hawaii from discriminating against Hawaiian Nationals.
TAKING ACTION:
Put our heads and resources together to find or create an ideal case; find a lawyer and file a complaint to the Better Business Bureau or the Civil Rights Commission, or federal banking regulators... Walk it through the process. Generate tons of press...
